Give-Back Opportunity: Volunteer Early, Get Rewarded!

Volunteers are desperately needed to help with this years Professional Development Day (PDD).   As an enticement this year, we are offering individuals who volunteers and provide five (5) or more hours of volunteer service a 50% discount off the cost of the technical workshop on Friday, September 29th.   Individuals who volunteer before August, will also receive a voucher good for one registration (either themselves or a guest) at the December business meeting.  All volunteers will also receive "give-back" PDUs, recognition in the program booklet, and recognition at the year end business meeting.

For chapter members who want to volunteer, there are lots of positions open to help with the PDD.

  • Event Coordinator: Assists with the coordination both prior to and the day of the event with venue, volunteers, and participants.
  • Session Facilitator: Interacts directly with the speakers to facilitate their participation and controls session attendance.
  • Technology Coordinator: Makes sure all of the A/V equipment is available and working.
  • Communications Coordinator: Assists with all PDD related communications.
  • Catering Coordinator: Coordinates food/beverage with the venue and the participants.
  • Transportation Coordinator: Handles all speaker and event related transportation and pickup needs.
  • Sponsor Coordinator: Handles all booth setups, door prizes, and onsite promo activities.
  • Corporate Outreach Lead/Specialists: Works with VP-Marketing on direct marketing efforts.
  • Outreach Lead: Promotes the PDD with 16 closest PMI chapters.
  • Media Editor: Proofreading all media and related PDD communications.
  • Media Relations Lead: Getting the event on local media's event calendars.
  • Marketing and Members Liaisons: Work with the respective chapter board members on developing the messaging related to the PDD.

If you are interested in one of these volunteer positions, applications are now being accepted in PMI's Volunteer Relationship Management System (VRMS).   Just search for open positions for the Central Mississippi Chapter and they should be displayed.   Some positions don't require attendance at the event itself, while others are primarily during the event.   This is a great way to earn "give back" PDUs and contribute to the chapter as well as your profession.
